Walton Girls Explore Their Futures

Over in Grantham, supported by their LiNCHigher Programme of activity, Walton Girls' High School immersed themselves in an off-timetable day of workshops this month.

Year 9 enjoyed two MAD4life workshops where they explored a range of revision skills and life skills to support their future educational journeys. Year 10 took part in a full day of Aspiring Minds workshops where they listened to a talk from Olympic swimmer James Kirton and had the opportunity to use sports science equipment. Year 11 spent some time with the LiNCHigher team on their Course Explorer workshop - allowing students to become familiar with the UCAS website and what different courses around the UK could offer them. They also took part in a discussion about the barriers people might face when deciding what to do after 18 and the reasons some people choose to go onto Higher Education. The Year 12’s went on a trip to Sheffield Hallam University and experienced different taster workshops and explored the campus during a tour.

The school are working alongside their Area Engagement Officer to measure the impact of the activity over the duration of the project, assessing the way it can affect: knowledge, aspiration, attitude and intention to apply to Higher Education
